The chains and gears are clearly marked and of good quality, everything fits perfectly and until three months later everything works fine. I changed this after reading several forum posts pointing to camshaft shifters, worn control components, low oil pressure, VCT, camshaft sensors. If you have this engine, you know the story. He took off the oil pan, found the rods (washers) lying in the floor, replaced them. I removed and tested the VCT with the 12v power supply they switched, so I replaced the timing kit, oil pump and phasers and removed the mud. The car drove a little better but with the same problem idling. I bought a code reader, it called the camshaft position sensor, replaced, no more codes from it, it was causing excessive lag on both banks, replaced one VCT, cleaned up that bank, changed the other VCT, no more codes, truck is idling. Thought I'd add my story to save you the hassle, hopefully your journey won't be as long as mine to a well running engine!
