I switched my birds' diet many years ago on the recommendation of a veterinarian. Not only have my birds lost weight, they are now at the right weight. Many ornamental birds are overweight due to the high calorie content of parrot food on the market. My avian vet recommended Harrison's. Two of my birds were overweight when this brand was recommended to me. My birds lost weight years ago and they really like the food. If you're transitioning from a seed diet to a chunk diet, I recommend simply adding some seeds to your food and gradually transitioning into it. The switch to cold turkey is very bad for them.
