Kids need backpacks and so do I. However, I'm 4'10" and needed a smaller backpack that didn't look like a toddler backpack. Revane provided the answer: excellent reviews of this pack posted by small and medium sized women. Based on those reviews and research among the best water bags i bought 2 of these for kids (<10yrs) and 1 for myself we have been using them for over 2 years months and very satisfied they are easy to clean and fill with a wide opening the material is thick and flexible. Until it leaks. They're easy to drink and lockable to stop the flow of water. Adjusting the straps to fit each person is quick and easy. The safety whistle built into the chest strap is a plus, although we don't use it for the Luckily didn't have to use it.A variety of pockets for snacks,keys,phone,magnifying glass etc a thin sweater/towel make their excellent purchase.it doesn't lie flat.I have the same problem with the same solution; Tuck the tube under the chest strap. It's not a problem for my children. When our dog joins us, we stuff his collapsible bowl and treats into the expandable outer pocket. They make hiking easier and more enjoyable. I bought these backpacks myself and am writing an unsolicited review. I would buy them again.
