After reading many reviews I decided on this stand. I have two dogs (65 pounds and 85 pounds). They are well-mannered, but sometimes associate with dogs they think they don't like. We did 2 week hikes across the country (west coast to east coast) and it worked every place we went. Desert, forests, prairies, river banks. They call it. Both dogs were on at the same time and it worked out great. Now we are waiting for a fence to be installed in our new house and this is also a good short-term solution. Definitely strong enough, easy to use. I definitely recommend bringing/using something to drive the stake into the ground, but to be honest we were able to use some very strong little branches while camping that did the trick!
