I bought these Vmaisi mounting cups to use with a Munchkin XL gate at the top of the stairs for added strength, and was very satisfied. These mounting cups were very easy to use/easy to install. Simply insert the mounting cups that came with your gate into these and turn the adjusting rod on the gate until it is securely fastened to the wall. Note that they add a bit of overall width to your gate, so you'll need to factor an extra 0.98 inches (usually one inch) into your width calculations if you need to figure out the gate extension. I used saucers. on the baseboard, and the top is attached directly to the wall, so the upper adjustment rods turned out much more than the lower ones. I didn't have to drill any holes to attach it to the wall. They are very strong even without that. A larger diameter (2 1/3") than the typical mounting cups that come with your gate, plus rivet lines on the side facing the surface you're mounting them to provide a stronger grip. Hold that Gate in place It also allows you to protect your surfaces a bit as the large rubber handles dissipate the mad energy of a child or animal thrown in their way My strong 2 year old loves slamming the gate grab, pull and shake as it magically opens for him if he just tries hard enough (the gate hasn't moved an iota and you'd think he'd figured out not to worry , but sometimes he still does it like his life depends on it.) Update: my baby has grown and we don't need gates anymore.When removing the gate with it at the top of the stairs there was no mark on the walls.We had no Mounting cups on the gate at the bottom of the stairs, and there were nicks in the drywall and baseboard. I want us to use them on the lower gate as well. I highly recommend this product! I'm glad we got a little more peace at the top of the stairs and they did a good job protecting the drywall and stucco.
