Review on Black Derale 16749 Fan Controller with Adjustable Settings by Stetson Olsen

I bought 2 of these units and the red power cord that powers the unit was literally pulled out of the cord socket when the unit was taken out of the box. I contacted MFG and they sent 2 replacements. Same thing happened, the red power cord was easily unplugged. After a thorough inspection, the remaining control wires were not properly crimped either. I returned both Revain units as defective. Please note that these devices are not well sealed and should not be used under the hood where dirt and moisture is present. Another problem with this device is that Derale routes the main power supply through the fan first and uses the controller as a variable ground. Personally, I don't like connecting the device this way. The controller must power the fan through a relay, which is the "industry standard". Order Ron Francis AR-27 or AR-28 Wiring Kit from Summit Racing or Revain. Either these devices are much better in my opinion, although not configurable, they just use different temperature sensors. While Derale makes good fans, covers etc, there is room for improvement in their electrical accessories.
