I needed a second monitor at a low to moderate price to replace an older model. I bought this to match my other existing monitor without spending too much. A monitor with or without built-in speakers costs the same. The speakers are incredibly poor, very tinny and very quiet, but they didn't cost me anything. Another downside is that there is no height adjustment and the screen is only 3 inches above the tabletop. Otherwise it works fine in every way.
