This handle solves several problems. It provides an additional surface for gripping the camera, which is definitely needed. I wish it was a little gummy, but it's definitely serviceable. The metal is almost completely flush with the camera, which looks nice. I was amazed how they designed the base so you can use it and still open and close the camera. There is almost no clearance around the RX100 hinge so I figured it was impossible. One issue is that the design is a screw in a screw with a tripod hole. It's not one piece, so if you unscrew it you can remove the small screw, but the tripod hole screw will still remain stuck in the camera. It can be removed, but it slows down the work. Very useful for re-centering the tripod hole under the lens! This allows me to use an external LCD viewfinder/magnifier, which is important for focusing in video mode (the viewfinder makes critical focusing difficult). Overall, this is a nice upgrade over Sony's rubber grip. I highly recommend it and applaud the creative design.
