Pleasantly surprised

I'm new to candle making. I searched and searched for a kit that wouldn't be too expensive. This kit comes with everything as described and is of good quality. The little bottles that come with it are adorable. I've read in some reviews of these kits that the stickers that hold the wicks in place don't stick well. I didn't have this problem at all. I experimented by making two votive candles in glass holders that I had on hand. I cleaned the inside of the glass holders with rubbing alcohol to remove any wax or oil residue. The stickers worked well. They didn't move at all after pouring hot wax. I was a bit surprised to learn that a bag of wax (1lb) only makes 2 votives. After the first filling, I put the candles in the fridge. No freezer. I found that there was a "hole" in the wax. All I did was melt some more wax and pour it in to fill in the holes. I then took a wooden skewer and pierced the wax (very gently) to release any air bubbles that may have formed from the new cast. Back in the fridge and they "cured" well. No more "holes" in the wax and they burn great! This kit does NOT contain any essential oils (I added mine) so there is no smell rating. Now all I have to do is buy a big bag of wax to make candles that are a little bigger.
