You get what you pay for

Folks, I don't write reviews unless I'm genuinely impressed or upset. You already know which way to go. You don't have to say much. We buy NVME drives for speed, pure and simple. If I needed a lot of storage, I'd pay $100 for a cool 4TB of disk stock. But before that I used a SATA SSD which was good but really became a bottleneck when gaming/multitasking. Enter Crucial 500GB NVME. Looks great on paper, right? Yes, I thought so too, and released my hard-earned cash (yes, we really don't have excess $$$ these days) expecting throughput to match the advertised speeds. Note that I wasn't expecting that. Reading 2400MB would be nice but not required. Well, as you can see from my graph, this isn't the maximum speed. Yes, I restarted the test several times while the system was otherwise unloaded. FYI, this is on a freshly installed Windows 10 Pro system with an i3-9100 and 32GB of memory. So yeah, I'm sad. It's really not worth the time/money to return as Revain are now requiring us to go public during the global pandemic to hand over the faulty item. And like I said, it's faster than my former SATA. But absolutely not enough to justify the cost :( Happy Holidays? Think no. Edit: Response from Vendor RE. Guys, it was nice of you to respond via an automated bot, but as usual that misses the point of my review. This is it A NEW drive with a NEW install of Windows 10 No junk to collect and no signs of the trim not working properly If you would do the right thing by sending me a replacement to at least tell if it's mine installation or my drive was, I could increase this to 3 (if same problem persists) or 5 if speed improves.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not everything fits
