Review on ๐Ÿงถ Lacis Plastic Wool Yarn Ball Winder by Amber Perez

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Works great in yarn

So far I haven't had any problems with this winder. It winds the yarn very well into a ball with a central pull. It's also good for other things that hold up better when wrapped around. In fact, it doesn't form a sphere, but rather a thick cylinder. I have seen the shape described as a bundle of yarn. I was able to wind a double strand of yarn for use in applications that require two strands of yarn to add volume. No problem attaching the winder to the edge of the table. The instructions state that the worktop thickness should not exceed 1.4 inches, which is just under 1-1/2 inches. The thread guide should be flipped up and pulled out all the way to keep it in place. You should check it regularly to make sure it's still safe. Holding the yarn slightly taut and letting it pass between your thumb and forefinger without coiling will help form a firmer cake. It also lets you know if a tangle occurs, so you're less likely to end up in a mess. There is a slot at the end of the spindle where you put the end of the yarn to secure it. I marked the side where the loose end was dangling so I know where it is when I remove the wound cake from the spindle. The first few turns will sometimes slip off the spindle, but a little care will fix this. I spool yarn from skeins with no problems. Some strands didn't have a center-pull end, but if you reached into the strand and pulled out the end, you got a center-pull skein. This makes winding the yarn much easier.
