Functional night vision webcam

Works like a standard webcam, with the added benefits of night vision and extra long cable, but with the disadvantages of a heavy, uncomfortable case and no sound. I've only used this on a Mac running Mojave. It worked immediately after plugging it in, with no need to install a driver. It has been working reliably with Skype for hundreds of hours. Night vision works very well. In daylight, the camera delivers a good color image. When the ambient light is reduced too much to get a good picture, the camera will automatically switch to IR. The IR illuminator turns on with a faint red light and the output appears in shades of gray rather than a color image. When the light comes back on, the IR LED will turn off again and you'll be back in color. The long cable and heavy body match the USB security camera design. The case will indeed work well for its intended purpose. It is weather resistant and can be attached to a surface with the four screws provided. You set the camera's point of aim manually by rotating the camera in the mount and you're done. The 5 meter cable makes it easy to connect to a computer. If you intend to use the device in this way, you will probably be happy with the case and for you I would give this device 5 stars. I bought it to use as a webcam because I couldn't find any other USB webcams with Auto-IR. So, given my usage, I deducted a star just in case. It lacks a tripod mount, and adjusting pan and tilt manually is tedious at best. The weight makes it a poor candidate for a monitor, even if you could figure out how to attach it. The lack of sounds is also related to the body. According to the seller, the module has a microphone. However, it cannot be used as it is encased in a mostly weatherproof metal case. I really wish I could get it in a standard webcam body with a tripod mount. It would be a five star product. In the meantime I'm torn between finding a way to make a tripod mount for it and opening up the case and creating a whole new case for the bare module. Please comment if you found a good solution!
