In the foreword, I want to say that I was a little hesitant to buy them, since many people reported the heads to have removed. I've used stainless steel screws several times in the past with the same problem. I just need to understand that stainless steel screws are softer, so I think pre-drilling is a must. Some have reported that even after pre-drilling they still had problems, which makes me wonder how they pre-drilled into what and how deep? I used conical countersinks and drilled to the bottom, setting the torque on the bit to 8 when I installed the screws. I didn't have a single header, all the screws seemed to bite well too. This was done on an old mahogany floor that I reused to make Adirondack chairs. Use them properly and you shouldn't have any problems.
