This product is amazing! I bought it because I was preparing for a business trip to a very remote Aleutian (Alaska) island. There is absolutely no cell phone reception and the only reliable means of communication is the satellite phone. One of the most impressive features of this product was the battery life. I set it to track my position every 10 minutes while I was on the boat. It requires a full view of the sky, but I put it in a clear Pelican case and left it on deck and had no problems. Bluetooth for sharpening is pretty strong. I could be comfortably 30-50 feet away and my phone never lost connection. I've sent and received many text messages, each with my location and a link to a map showing exactly where I was. There was sometimes a slight delay in sending texts, but I assume this was only because the satellite was not directly overhead at the time. The biggest delay in sending was about two minutes. You can even update Facebook and Twitter with this device! You can't actually read your FB or Twitter feeds, but you can update your status and like the map of your location! The monthly cost for unlimited text messaging is pretty reasonable considering it uses satellite rather than cellular. It was a real pleasure to be able to communicate from anywhere in the world! I also like DeLorme's pricing plans. Being able to have a monthly service instead of an annual contract is a game changer! This is definitely one of the best purchases I've made this year! For any serious outdoor enthusiast or anyone who simply needs to stay connected in the remote wilderness, this is what you've been waiting for!
