Used the stock cooler for my Core i7-7700k (not overclocked) and observed temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Celsius while gaming. Sometimes it reaches 85 degrees. I just installed NH-D9L (used with thermal paste) and my CPU is now hovering around 60 degrees when gaming. I'm surprised! Didn't think I would see such a difference. And the fan is much quieter, while the stock fan sounded like it was running at the limit to keep it under 80. Noctura also seems to have put a lot of attention and attention to detail into its packaging and instructions. Everything was very clear. Definitely feels like a premium product at a decent price. I was always put off by the Noctura color scheme, but this cooler matched my Corsair Air 240 case, so I gave it a try. Now I understand why people love Noctura. The performance is fantastic! It will be difficult to partner with any other company in future builds.
