Restore if you can! Some faucets are worse than others. I had two faucets in the house that were old. Hidden in my bathroom. BUT I ended up trying to clean and restore it. My old rusty and moldy hats were such a thorn in my side. They had cracks, I led them to a large accumulation of moisture. I didn't seal them like other reviewers. It's a tight seal if you deploy them without cracking them. I was careful and everything went well. Insert the cap carefully. I ordered two of these and they matched my late 90's Delta sink faucet perfectly. I unscrewed the faucet cap and cleaned everything up with a krud cutter and fabulosa. I used an old toothbrush and qtips to clean. Completely dried up. Do not use bleach when cleaning the faucet. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the faucet handle to avoid future cracking and water/cleaner seepage into the lid. I spray the cleaner directly onto the microfiber and then wipe it off.
