I never put my fish in tanks that don't provide the right environment and aren't a happy place for the fish, let alone poor circulation and/or filtration. probably why some of your fish types are deep fried, maybe a small tank for the size of the heater. Speaking from my experience, buy yourself a 5 gallon, your betta will be a lot happier and start blowing a nest of happy bubbles. Trust me mine does the same thing :) plus 5 gallons of Petworks not worth spending $15. I think you have rims :) Rimless tanks are wired and expensive.
