This adapter did not work for me at first. The black flange over the threaded portion limits how deep the device can be screwed into the mogul socket. I thought that was my problem but reading other reviews I think I have a 3 pin socket that is not quite compatible with this adapter. I lifted the center tab in the adapter to make better contact with my lightbulb and that helped, but unfortunately not enough. If I screw this first onto a lightbulb and then into a live outlet, the light will flash when contact is made and opened, but I can't get it into a position where it stays safe. Unfortunately, it can't be returned on credit either, so I'll stick with it. I still don't know if it's because I have a 3-prong outlet or the outlet is too deep to contact this adapter.
