Socket adapter did not fit snugly into the E39 side socket even though it made contact. After screwing the bulb in to see how the E26 side would fit, the bulb got stuck. I don't know how, it got stuck as it was a new bulb. However, after five minutes of gently wiggling the bulb to pull it out, the socket fell apart. I will not buy this brand again.

Be careful as this adapter is not very durable. It would be better if there were apartments for installation and removal. If you find it very tight (like me) be careful with the channel locks or other keys. I had never heard of Mogul lights/sockets before. I found it cheaper to get an adapter and buy a standard bulb (e-26/27 or medium) than to replace a Magnate bulb for an equivalent light output. This adapter did not work for me at first. The black flange over the threaded portion limits how deep the device can be screwed into the mogul socket. I thought that was my problem but reading other reviews I think I have a 3 pin socket that is not quite compatible with this adapter. I lifted the center tab in the adapter to make better contact with my lightbulb and that helped, but unfortunately not enough.
