Review on EXEDY MC229 Clutch Master Cylinder: Reliable Performance and Smooth Shifting by Matt Eason

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value for money

Easy to install and good quality. At the same time I also installed an Exedy SC825 slave cylinder. The combination of the two means I shouldn't have any clutch issues for a while. TIP: I've had 2 Miatas in a row do this repair. While there I adjusted the master cylinder push rod - quite a bit - (I lengthened it by 2 turns or so). This greatly improves the grip feeling. It didn't lift off the ground like my two Miats did. Now it feels like the clutch is on a new car (and has been for 4 months). NOTE: You do not have to wait while replacing the master cylinder to make this adjustment. You can do this just below the dashboard. It takes a little gymnastics, but the 10 minutes you spend doing it will transform your feelings. The car was like new and it became more comfortable to drive!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Useless features
