Review on YON SOU Pneumatic Engraving Pencil Grinder by Byron Forman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheap and it works.

If you've never used a pencil-sized die grinder, think of it as a Dremel tool for steroids and meth. It weighs next to nothing and can spin at up to 40,000 rpm. There's no torque or gyroscopic forces here that you get from a relatively large motor in a Dremel, making it a lot easier to control when working on very small things. The downside is you need a decent compressor as it uses a lot of air. My 2 gallon 1 hp supercharger. kept rebooting while testing my sample. This little grinder is cheap, appears to be free from any obvious flaws, and comes complete with its own air hose, a couple of sharpening stones, a spare chuck, and a tiny bottle of oil. I think it should hold up well to light use.

Pros
  • ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY: The main body of this pencil sharpener uses a set of tungsten steel alloy gears, which have excellent wear resistance and long service life. The die grinder's bearing can withstand a higher rotating speed of 70,000 rpm, which increases the grinding speed and efficiency.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
