Poor design (tilt valve position)

I have a 2006 Dodge Stratus 2.4L and the filler neck started cracking and leaking. So I replaced it, and since it was disabled I decided to replace the thermostat. After driving it with a new thermostat, I opened the hood and noticed a leak under the radiator cap. Then I bought a new radiator cap and it was still leaking. I thought maybe the new filler cap was warped or something and replaced it with another new one. There was also a leak. I noticed the leak go from cold to hot but stopped as the car warmed up to normal operating temperature. So I decided to crack open the cooling system to troubleshoot. My wife took it on a short trip to the grocery store and the top hose failed. Repaired, flooded, reopened and flowing. Replaced with another radiator cap, still leaking. I then thought it must be a new thermostat. I took it out and noticed the rocker valve was next to the main valve and was very small. Went to Autozone to buy a new thermostat and made sure the rocker valve was farther from the main valve and also noticed that the rocker valve was significantly larger. Installed, the car belched again and no more leakage. Now the car runs great.
