Great cooler! Poor quality mounting kit.

Excellent cooler. Bad installation kit. Just buy the cooler separately. The hose is cheap, the sensor leaks, does not turn on and is very fragile. The cooler itself is cool and very high quality. Just save money and buy quality parts for installation. I ended up using a manual switch and -6 steel braided hoses with adapters.

  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • boring packaging

Trans Fluid to Fuel

This whole kit solved my tanking problems with my gas. What I had was that my fuel got very hot when it entered my (TBI 5.7/4L60E)/'86 C10 engine. So after I installed my inline electric fuel pump under the right hand passenger side and put on this kit, hooray! The fuel stays cooler. Although this is for gear oil, I needed it for my fuel. It works perfectly and I programmed it to work with the ignition on.

  • Confident

  • I vaguely remember

Tundra A750F 4.7 V8

This radiator was installed on a 2006 Toyota Tundra double cab 4.7 V8. I've done the same ride in Southern Utah for the last 5 years and in front of this cooler, when I was towing a 4500 lb trailer with a flatbed truck loaded right to the limit of my GCVWR, my transmission hit 220ยฐ in minutes , as I drove past Soldier Summit UT. Highway 6. This year I rode this route again, a little harder, and the same passage, the gearbox turned 194ยฐ. This is definitely a good investment. Smooth driving onโ€ฆ

Optional Radiator for 2012 Silverado 1500

I overheated my drivetrain while plowing large hilly areas with my 2012 Silverado 1500. The OEM radiator was small and didn't have a fan, so when plowing it doesn't get enough wind to cool it effectively. I hooked up this cooler as an add on to a Hayden 397 transfer line fitting and connected the fan and thermostat to the fuse box. The cooler fits comfortably to the left or right of the stock cooler. I went with the OEM style clamps but all the fittings and hoses included appear to be of goodโ€ฆ

Works well so far, transmission oil cooling

This transmission cooler was easy to fit. I bolted it to a cross member under our Ford E350 Chassis RV. Since the existing refrigerant lines were 1/2" instead of 3/8", I had to buy adapters that went from 6AN to 8AN and then from 8AN to a 1/2" hose barb. The last was the wiring. I have that black wire grounded to the frame and connected the red wire to one side of the thermostat. Then I connected the new red wire to the other side of the thermostat and used a fuse to energize the wire from theโ€ฆ

The thermal switch is leaking.

thermal switch of very poor design. It uses a tiny thin gauge with straight threads (it can't be pipe threads, it comes off instantly) and limits the use of sealant. I tried applying a small amount to the base of the switch which was still seeping through the transfluid. Use a tiny o-ring until I can replace it with a 1/8" pipe thread fitting/gauge which is another $25. Derale KNOWS it is leaking, there are many complaints about it on the internet. Your own two stars for a decent fan/heatโ€ฆ

its worth it. Great setup

I've had this installed on my 92 F350 for a few weeks now and am happy with the results. The truck is built for rock crawling and towing. The original heatsink that was on it didn't work. I was in the ditch, working back and forth to get out while the transmission heated up to the point where fluid was pouring out of the E4OD's breather tube. but I can tell you it was extremely high. After that, I realized that a much better cooling option was needed. Therefore I bought this product. I alsoโ€ฆ

Easy installation and good performance.

I use this cooler as an external replacement for the transmission cooler on my 1977 Ford Bronco. I found it easy to install and works pretty well with my truck. It doesn't cool my transmission enough on long freeway drives, but it works great for me when I'm jogging back and forth to work and cruising around town in different ways. When driving it for long distances or a few rides with short rests, it can't keep the transmission as cool as I'd like unless I'm cruising at slower speeds, 55 mphโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Engine Cooling and Air Conditioning
Cons
  • Not bad

When I bought my 2007 Silverado I was thinking about fuel economy and not towing, so I settled on a model with a very high reverse (I get 20-22mpg empty). When my wife and I decided to hit the road this year and bought our 24 foot camper (TT), I was concerned if my truck would be able to tow it. It turned out to have plenty of power, but the gearbox got hot very quickly, even on flat ground, so I knew I wouldn't be able to tow our TT in the mountains. I considered buying a larger truck orโ€ฆ
