The plastic on the boxes appears to be of decent thickness and quality. Plastic would be a bit softer, but not super fragile. The door seems to close normally. If anyone remembers old rental VHS tapes, they're very similar, but again, the plastic is a bit harder. My biggest concern is that there is too much space between the 1TB hard drives I'm using and the foam pads. the inside of the door. That means the hard drives are rattling. Even with a thicker silicone bumper (designed for kitchen cabinets) in the center of the inner cap, my rims still rattle. So these cases are designed for very thick drives. I solved the rattle problem by slipping the rolled-up Static Static wrap that came with the new drive between the drive and the enclosure door spacers. Awkward, but currently works without pressure points on the actuator or ordering and trying out sticky foam pads. It would be nice if StarTech added an adhesive sheet of multiple thicker spacers to accommodate discs of different thicknesses. Or really redesign the case - I can't imagine many HDDs or SSDs on the market being as thick as this case was designed. One star deducted because I was forced to crack the solution to protect my drives, but other than that everything is fine and seems to be an acceptable value.
