This is a really good kit but beware of hidden costs! The price of the kit does NOT include any tracks. When you buy a kit you get a code to buy tracks for free, but you still charge about $5 for shipping and handling, plus more if you want tracks delivered in 2 days, which is what they recommend that your tracks don't die on the go. I decided not to pay more and opted for regular shipping and my tracks arrived in perfect condition within 3 days. If you want another batch of tracks, you need to pay about $15 for tracks plus shipping. So beware buyers! But still, this is a GREAT little science kit. My 4 year old son was mesmerized by the arrival of the caterpillars. They come in a small plastic tub with a layer of food sealed on the bottom so you don't have to feed or groom them at all. Just make sure they are neither too hot nor too cold and watch them grow! They eat food from below, hang on top and turn into pupae. After about a week they will turn into butterflies and then you can feed them fruit or sugar water, which is also great fun. We got 6 caterpillars and all 6 turned into butterflies. Such a beautiful and really great learning experience for small children (and for us big ones too). Note: Make sure you stay home for at least 3 weeks when ordering butterflies. If you go out of town you can skip the transformation, and if they turn into butterflies you need to be home to feed them.
