Review on CA10169 Extra Guard Panel Filter by John Kahsar

I have just replaced the air filter in my 2008 Toyota RAV4 with the same filter part number and noticed that the design has changed. My previous filter was bought in 2017. I replaced it with a FRAM filter of the same model in April 2019. I immediately noticed that the filter was revised. The 2017 filter design consisted of a rigid plastic frame that encloses the filter material. The new filter that I bought in April 2019 consists almost entirely of filter material. It's like they put the filter material in a giant press and just stamp the shape of the filter. It would definitely be cheaper for FRAM to make this filter compared to the 2017 design, but they charge the same price. I'm not a fan of companies making cuts like that. I will look around for filters from other manufacturers. The filter image shown at Revain in April 2019 is accurate and shows what the new filter design looks like.
