Purchased to check the level of illumination (not a photo, but, for example, an office, a hallway, etc.). It's a great little device, if a bit cheap - cheap, thin, plasticky and so-so fitting parts that probably won't last long, but will last long enough for casual use. The display is exceptionally large and easy to read and has an additional backlight. Unlike similar cheap products, it comes with a 9V battery so you can start using it as soon as you receive it. It displays readings approximately every 1/2 second and is reasonably reproducible. There are buttons for range and for lux or foot candles, but they don't remember, so you have to press a little every time you turn it on. The default value is the highest sensitivity, which is typically an overrange at startup. Overall I like it as I didn't want a two handed device with a dangling light meter that requires two hands all the time. Another plus was the lack of trouble finding a battery.
