I attached one to hold the extendable ladders. I realized that I only want one ladder on each not because of the product but for convenience as they are different sizes and used for different items around the house. Anyway, I installed the first one and wanted to see how it goes before buying the second one. It was very stable, easy to install, and had 3" tabs in the box (at least the ones I got) so I didn't have to go out and buy something else. The thickness of steel and screws is more than enough to hold the ladder and the stated maximum weight. They mentioned that it took about 15 minutes to install, which was probably just for the time spent drilling and assembling. It took me about 90 minutes for the first one and about 60 minutes for the second one, and I installed them myself. The most important time factors for me were assessing the placement, making sure I was centered squarely on the joists I was going into, no wiring, water and sprinkler lines running through my garage ceiling, and making sure the stair legs weren't don't bang on the garage door as it opened. There is an attic above my garage with stairs to the top, so I had the opportunity to double and triple check. I'm glad I did this as there was a power line running along one of the joists so I moved the placement a bit). Finally, I wanted to make sure the placement would make it easy to install and remove the ladders with the garage door closed (since I needed to place them higher where the door would be when opened). Be sure to follow the instructions. for pre-drilling as the joists are likely to split most joists if you don't follow them. After installing the first mount, I increased the recommended drill bit slightly and found that the lag was still very tight but significantly easier to insert (and I lubricated them all before inserting). My final recommendation is that after mounting the bracket brackets to the ceiling, assemble the U piece and place as a unit. Insert the bolts as holders, then put on the washers and nuts (they should hold up snugly). On the first one, I found that trying to build the "U" piece by piece will result in you "overstretching" the bracket holders to seat the bottom bracket. I would use them again if installing a different ceiling. Bracket; very difficult.
