This is a very versatile and comfortable backpack for light travel or as a carry-on. a five day trip that included fly fishing and hiking. The stowable shoulder and kidney straps feel very comfortable and the compression straps reduce bulk. There are several zippered pockets for small items, electronic/business accessories, toiletries and tablets/laptops. The top pocket was ideal for TSA test items due to its easy access and the main compartment could be locked. I found that on a five-day load, the backpack had some weight, about 40 pounds, and the shoulder straps were comfortable. enough to wade through terminals and get to trains and whatnot, but you don't want to use it as a backcountry backpack. However, this is an excellent bag for intended use as a carry-on/short-haul backpack.
