Bought together with a recently purchased new inverter generator. The magnet is small but strong enough. The probe is about the same length as the original and the head barely makes contact with the plastic outer cap. I installed the first oil filling in my generator, let it run under load for an hour and changed the oil. The picture shows metal dust attracted to the end of the stylus and metal dust that has also formed a ring at the other pole of the magnet on the stylus shaft. This product appears to work as advertised and I am happy with the results. A few tips for adding or draining oil.1. Place a paper towel under the spout when adding, checking or changing oil. Saves a little cleaning effort.2. You don't need to buy a plug to change the oil. Use a milk jug or cut off the top of a water or soda bottle, tuck a paper towel under the oil filler neck, neck the bottle and tilt it. You decide to check or change the oil immediately after starting the generator.
