The station works best with soldering and soldering equipment

UPDATE 10/13/20: I recently purchased original Hakko T18 tips for this station and another soldering iron and am pleased to report that they fit and work great. Thus both the tips of the 900M series and the original Hakko T18 tips fit. The only difference between the 900M and T18 tips is the overall width of the shaft. T18 shafts are about 1.5-3 tenths of a millimeter (a few thousandths of an inch) wider depending on how much smaller the cheap tips are in comparison. The 4mm holes on cheap nozzles aren't all drilled to the same depth, so some of them sit right on top of the steel rod that protrudes from the iron's handle and surrounds the ceramic heater, while others don't, leaving a small gap between the tips. Pointed shaft and steel rod. Hakko tips leave a very small (razor-thin) gap and sit squarely on top of the ceramic heater tip, so don't over-tighten the steel sleeve that holds the tip in place. Even if there is a gap with cheaper tips, do not overtighten the sleeve, you risk breaking the ceramic heater. Just tighten it firmly with your finger. Here is a link to the Hakko tips I use. how well it works with 16 and 12 gauge PVC coated copper strands. And they were soldered with a cheap 900M 5.2mm tip (I forgot to go back to a Hakko tip) but it wasn't really necessary as this tip works well with very fast heat transfer on thick wire. Great job, great tip! I set the iron to 350C and kept the tip under the wire throughout the process, running Kester 60/40 over the wire. I created a thermal bridge at the very beginning by applying some solder directly to the tip to speed up heat transfer. ------------ -------------------------------------- ------------ --------------- I'm just a light to moderate station user. The iron heats up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit fairly quickly. The base is very stable as the iron holder is attached. It holds the iron securely and the included molded brass tip cleaner works well although it is a bit small. It's better for the tips because there's no heat stroke like a wet sponge. This requires standard 900M series tips. So if you need replacements or additional shapes and sizes, it's easy to find them here at Revain. It easily handles 12 gauge stranded wire at 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Don't forget to coat the tip with solder when you're done to prevent oxidation. The included lead free solder actually worked fine, but I usually use Kester 60/40 or 63/37 resin core solder. I didn't use a desoldering tool. Instead I would use my own solder wick. If I have anything to add I will update my review.
