My first remote control car was a 1997 Saturn SC2. The second was a 2006 Chevy Malibu. Both consoles had to be replaced after a few years. Malibu lasted closer to 5 years. However, after a few years, the patterns on the buttons started to wear out and the remote definitely looked used. Not too much for remotes that were easy to replace and cheap. However, when I rented my 2013 Elantra GT, they were proximity remotes. This means I didn't need the key to get into the car when it started. I only needed the remote to be within four feet of my car. These remotes are going to be a lot more expensive to replace so I wanted to protect them from water damage and provide some drop protection. I bought a pair of leather shoes on eBay and they fit perfectly. I used them on my Tucson which I later bought. So I have about 7 years of them. Not bad, but when I got my GMC Terrain I had to buy new ones. This time I decided to try them because they offer 360 feet of protection. The leather ones offered more impact protection but not as much water protection as these. I think since I never take them out of my purse (they're also proximity keys) I probably won't need that kind of drop protection. I probably don't need water protection either, but I wanted the remotes to look like new. This is compliant. Since they fit perfectly, they are not easy to put on. If they were easy to put on, they wouldn't fit perfectly. I tested the buttons indoors while my car was parked in the driveway about 50 feet away and they work fine. They work even when I'm not at the window. By the way, GM remote controls work very well. When I had my Malibu, I could start the car in the garage across from the office. I stood by the window, pointed the remote at my car across the street and down a few floors, and off we went. Ideal for cold days. Anyway, I like that these things fit perfectly and don't get in the way of the remote. The keys click well and don't press on other keys when I press the key. This means that when you press the unlock button, there is no pressure on the panic button, which could potentially set off an alarm. I've been using it for a few months now and it hasn't affected the zoom function either. This means I can still open the car without taking it out of my purse. Definitely recommend.
