Detailed comparison between Deft Pro Trackballs and the smaller Deft Trackballs

I'm a big fan of trackballs. I have used trackballs from Microsoft, Logitech and Kensington, but for the controller I have chosen Elecom finger control trackballs. I have Elecom Deft at home and Elecom HUGE at work. I recently got the Deft Pro to replace the smaller Deft at home because I found it to be a good combination of the Deft hand position and the added control of the larger ball like in the HUGE. Unfortunately the Deft Pro doesn't suit me and I will most likely stick with the smaller Deft. The biggest problem is that the shell that holds the trackball in the Deft Pro compresses the ball too much, causing it to "stick slightly" when I try to make small ball movements. It takes extra strength to release the grip and get the ball moving, making it difficult to move the cursor accurately as the ball moves jerkily. I tried to show it in my video. I made sure the ball was clean and that the ruby support bearings inside the cup were clean too. I've also given it over a week to see if it "breaks" but the ball is still stuck; very noticeable compared to the slight gliding of the trackball in my smaller deft. The second problem for me is that the ball sticks out too high for my fingers to feel comfortable. I have a medium sized hand and the smaller Deft fits snugly in my palm. The Deft Pro's footprint is similar, but the overall height and palm rest angle is much higher and at a steeper angle. The front of the Deft Pro (where the ball is held) is also not angled down as much as the smaller Deft. This, combined with the fact that the ball is larger, causes my index and middle fingers to be lifted at a greater angle by the ball, which becomes uncomfortable over time. In fact, Deft Pro is better than Deft in several areas. First off, it's the Pro's large scroll wheel that's easier to turn than the thin, stiff wheel on the smaller Deft. The left and right tilt of the scroll wheel is also perfect - just as easy to press as a regular button press, unlike Deft's extremely hard tilt. The Pro's larger and more offset secondary function keys are an improvement over the Deft's three small and rather hard-to-reach Fn keys, although Fn3 is in a slightly odd position behind the main left key. I found it easier to press this button with the middle thumb knuckle. I didn't use any of the wireless or Bluetooth Pro features as I only used them to connect to my desktop computer.
