These pliers are designed to work with Cannon connectors when you cannot turn the ring by hand. Like the other reviewer, we got these tongs to twist plastic risers in a lawn watering system. Pliers work well when the pipe is dry, but pliers slip when the pipe is wet. It was enough for us, but if the whistle was wet you could use it with a rubber grip foil. Strongly curved handles feel different than straight handles, but you can get used to it. These pliers are a good tool to have on hand. They might not work for every application, but when they do, they're nice to have. It is an advantage that they also sell replacement pads.
