Screws don't fit the handles

When I went to mount the handles on the dresser, each handle came with 2 different sized screws - a longer and a shorter version. Due to the thickness of my drawers, I went with the shorter one. But it turns out that some of them are not the same size, they have different head sizes and lengths. About 1/3 of these are firm enough to hold the dresser and the rest didn't work. Not only do you have to make an extra trip to force the washing machine to attach them, but they are sturdy metal handles. I bought them thinking they would make updating my dresser quick and easy, but they are not.
