Feels like felt when writing. The ink appears to darken slightly on paper and lightens up after it dries (which doesn't take long at all). It doesn't really shine through regular thickness paper, which is a good thing. If I had any complaints it would be that the pen is very small - it feels tiny in my hand (no I don't have super big gorilla hands) and the tip seems to wear out quickly (and no I don't think I do press hard). Overall not a bad product but I keep looking for the pen I like best - currently the Staedtler Triplus Fineliner. It feels similar, but the triangular shape feels better in the hand.
