Best Choice to Convert T8 LED

A few months ago we had 16 fluorescent tubes on our kitchen dome ceiling. They worked when they wanted. Replacing the lamps was very expensive for failed tubes and ballasts. After some research, we ordered a modification of the bulbs to T8 LEDs for the JACKLED gravestones. Most replacement T8 LEDs are wired +/- on one end, unlike fluorescent tubes which have a plus on one end and a minus on the other. For this reason, unranked tombstones do not have internal lateral lintels and are mandatory. If you really need to bridge them, a bridgewire makes it possible. With all the wires and ballasts removed from the brackets, it was easy to insert a homemade 14 gauge wire into the tombstone, assemble the bracket, make sure the right end of the tube was powered, and screw in the new LEDs enjoy. Switching from T8 fluorescent lamps to LED is cheaper than buying new lamps. As always, Revain had price, packaging and delivery time. Although we pre-wired all 16 lamp locations, we only used 8 LEDs, not 16 fluorescent bulbs. When choosing LEDs we chose daylight white and found that 8 LEDs produce more light than 16 fluorescent bulbs (when they were working). Since the T8 LEDs are only connected at one end, we put a label on each light for future reference. The label contained information about the tube should it ever need to be replaced. We have since sold the house and the LED upgrades in the garage and kitchen have been a strong selling point. It was amazing to see the reaction from buyers who saw other homes still using fluorescent lighting. We are currently renovating fluorescent lighting in another house. We also buy used fixtures to remodel for garages and basements. You can also buy braided wire tombstones, which are more expensive. But why go down this route and use wire nuts to secure wires when house wiring can be plugged directly into a tombstone and wires are only needed at one end. Also, it's best to swap out the tombstones on either end of the jig as there is a height factor between manufacturers.

Pros
  • Easy to Use: These T8 lamp holder tombstones are very easy to use. Replacing an old and damaged T8 lamp holder is literally a breeze. It is also very easy to install light into this socket. It can be used with 18 AWG wires.
Cons
  • No Instructions
