I've used it very little but it has its advantages over a bubble level. For example, if you have something that you need to build at 90 degrees from the object you want to add, that main body may not be perfectly level with respect to the ground. This allows you to "zero out" the gauge and make the next part exactly 90 degrees to the main part.
