Review on Lees Premium Undergravel 12 Inch 48 Inch by Amy Johnson

I read other reviews and they downgraded this UGF. This is one of the nicest I've had and many for over 30 years. As a powerhead user I would like them to NOT include carbon filter mounting heads or air lines, they should be optional and reduce the cost of the unit. I don't think many people try to use UGF as their primary and only filtering system. Works best in conjunction with another system. Each of the 2 UG plates leaves a small gap between them, maybe 1-1/4" isn't a big deal, although the depth is perfect you need 3/4" at the back to make room for the power head. The top of the riser should not be curved. The only complaint I have is that EVERY board has 4 riser ports! That gives me 8 risers on a 55 gallon tank! lol The riser protrusions are about 1.5-2 inches high, too much for me. I had to take a thin jigsaw and cut them down so they didn't stick out past 2 inches of gravel. They don't need 4 on each plate and could have a lower profile. Despite this little side project of trimming them. Down I really love this UGF and highly recommend it. Nothing beats the UG when paired with a power filter to keep your tank perfectly balanced and crystal clear! Premium quality and construction.
