Review on Fotopro MGC 584 52Q Professional Camcorder by Dora Luna

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good mid-range travel tripod, a bit overpriced

First of all I think it's important to say that the bag in the pictures is not what you get. The photo is more of a soft bag made of thick fabric with an outside pocket as you can see in the photos of this review. What you actually get in a slimmer bag made from a nylon-like material with no external pocket. Like other inexpensive aluminum ball heads you see all over Revain, they cost around $30. There's nothing particularly bad about that. It's just a regular non-premium ball head. The thigh clamps are spring loaded, which was nice to see. Makes opening and closing the storage legs comfortable and easy. The padlocks are made of hard plastic which was a little surprising as most swivel padlocks I've seen usually have a more rubbery outer coating which they don't. One of the legs has foam padding at the top as well as further padding that wraps around the top of the other leg. The leg clasps work well and keep the legs nice and secure when undressed. The highlight of this tripod are the carbon fiber legs. They state that they are made of "Toray carbon cloth imported to Japan with 8 layers of protective anodic oxidation treatment". Well, I don't know exactly what that means, but I can tell you that the legs felt a little different than regular carbon fiber legs on other tripods of this kind. It's hard to point a finger at them, but they almost feel a little stronger than usual. All things considered, we came at a price. At the time of writing this review, it costs $209.99. Personally, I just don't think the price accurately reflects the quality you're getting here, let alone the lower quality bag you're actually getting. I think a price closer to $169 would be more reasonable.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not bad
