Review on McDavid Back Ice Wrap: Cold Therapy with Compression for Sprains, Muscle Pain, Bruises & Inflammation + by Amy Cook

It's cold but an ice pack pressed against the back is uncomfortable

There are a few things to say about the McDavid Ice Pack Wrap. First off, it's a one size fits most. Most likely, I suppose, if you're very tall (not like the guy in the photo). I find the picture misleading. First, that's why I thought it would fit. Pictured is a muscular guy. Then it should work. My back is nothing compared to his. My waist is 38/40 depending on the pants. I'm 6'1" and the doctors call me tall and slim. I can squeeze into this thing and leave about 2 inches of free space. There's no way I could lift them onto my ribs (which the box claims you can) and still breathe, assuming I could even attach velcro. , Ice causes discomfort when the corners hit your back, and that doesn't take into account the volume of a pack full of ice cubes. This is not a gel pack that you freeze and sort of presses against your body. So you can't lie down or recline when wearing this. The resulting pain will nullify the goal. Move? Of course. Sitting upright in a chair? Yes. I'm wearing it as I type this, but even sitting upright isn't very comfortable, and I'm no closer to the ice pack space available. I suspect the photo doesn't show the ice pack inside. generally because the bulge is not visible. And with ice in it, the bulge is noticeable. If I took the ice out it would probably fit me a lot better too, but then it wouldn't be an ice pack. So 1) I think this is a great idea because it's difficult to put a cold pack on an area that hurts, especially when the back hurts; but 2) it falls short in performance because ice is less convenient than gel packs and because 3) it just isn't very big. So three stars, more "good" than "good". It works out. It's just not very practical and not what is shown in the picture and description.
