Review on Weigh Safe WS6 2 5 Adjustable Mount by Joseph Harkins

Out of service after 20 months of use

I purchased this product on December 2nd, 2016. I use it to tow an 18 foot open deck trailer with a max weight of 7500 pounds. I noticed that the weights were wrong and the cars should have been placed higher on the deck. The next day after towing, I noticed oil dripping from the hitch. I noticed that the sensor no longer registers the weight. I removed the hitch and pulled the ball out of its socket and the cavity was filled with what appeared to be hydraulic oil. There is a plate that the ball sits on, which is designed to deflect the oil and move it into the chamber, causing the sensor to register the weight. should it have a leaky seal in the cavity? Oh ring the bell? I have reached out to the manufacturer for help but am not very hopeful as their website says it does not cover the operation of the sensor. Isn't that the only reason to buy their products? The sensor and its performance is the only reason to buy this and spend 300.00 on it. I will update if the manufacturer comes back with me. For safety reasons I got a B&W tow and stow coupling system to use at the same time. 1 star so far.
