Fixed my exhaust and emissions issues

2012 The engine focus indicator light came on, checked the code and found a small leak in the evaporator system. Googled the code and several forums mentioned this part number as a fix. Ordered from amazon and delivered immediately. Top up and not that difficult to change but wanted to wait for a warm day. Then I forgot about it until my wife said the car ran like crap and she also thought the fuel gauge was inaccurate because she drives the same route every week and some weeks the gauge shows a difference of about 1/4 than others weeks. Anyway, I drove the car and of course it worked like crap. The idle is either very high or low enough to stall. Unfortunately she told me this on a day when it was snowing so I took the car to the local mechanic and told him the 'Check Engine' light was on and I think that's the part that fixes it should. He said he doesn't just swap out parts, he has to fix bugs. Told him it was fine, about an hour later he called and said the solenoid was stuck open and he installed the part and my car was fine. I paid him for an hour's work and didn't have to deal with the cold. Since the check engine light is (obviously) off after installing this part, the car idles much better, the throttle gauge is accurate, and I think there may have been a ticking noise that's gone now. So if you have a small evaporator leak I would try this.
