I have a remote TV in the kitchen powered with a coax cable from a DISH HD Receiver. So I had an SD signal (pretty bad) on a 24 inch Vizio TV. During the holidays a friend told me he had a similar setup but with this HDMI 1 x 2 splitter. I bought it on Dec 26th - received it on Dec 29th (!) and installed it with no problems. I used the ONE HDMI output on the DVR as the input for the splitter and then connected output 1 back to my A/V receiver (as before) and output 2 to the remote TV with 35ft. HDMI cable (BlueRigger High SpeedHDMI Cable - 35ft - CL3) - Purchased at the same time. was no problem. The splitter is behind my other audio/video equipment. Being an active device, it does get a little warm, but that's not a problem for me. I can't tell how it performs with a 3D or 4K signal as I don't own a TV of this caliber. This was the solution I was looking for. for and I am completely satisfied with the results. UPDATE December 7, 2017: The original HDMI splitter purchased in December 2014 stopped working last month. This was a surprise as it is NOT a very complex device although it has active circuitry to split the HDMI input into TWO outputs. Nevertheless, I ordered a NEW J-Tech model (in a different case) and it solved my problem. The only difference I noticed was the delay in receiving signals to the two TVs compared to the last. Let's see how long this will last. Being an active device, it does get a little warm, but that's not a problem for me.
