Every masher needs a certain amount of lubrication, and this one won't bend or break under pressure. I tried one with small holes which was a disaster and left hole sized chunks. You need big holes to break through boiled or steamed potatoes, and a sharper edge is a must if you leave the skin on like I prefer for rustic mashed potatoes. I'm content with this crush that should outlive me. All of my J.AHenckels kitchen tools (beater, garlic press, paring knife) have so far proven themselves without rusting or breaking. You get what you pay for and I demand German quality. That's it.
