Review on πŸ“· OUDMON Trail Game Camera: 1080P Hunting Cam with Night Vision, Motion Activation, Waterproof IP67 by Gage Lawson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The Oudman Trail Cam is still being tested to see.

November 8th. I received this camera yesterday and wanted to write a review about it. Of course I will tell you more about it later. background to me. I had 5 or more security cameras at the same time and started using it over 11 years ago. I've used different brands and always go back to Stealth for picture quality, setup, cost, support, replacement cost, etc. However, they let me down with the last 3 cameras I bought, so I decided to try another brand. Ultimately I'm looking for something that will hold up (weather, usage etc), takes good pictures, doesn't fly by battery count and the company stands behind their product. What's in the box: The first security camera I've ever owned that came with a tree mount and USB cable. Design: Color/design appears to be correct. I like it. Required: I inserted a formatted SD card and 8 new Energizer AA batteries. Setup: Navigating the setup etc wasn't impossible, just a little awkward the first time around. I was fine. I'm not a fan of the fact that when you turn it on there's nothing on the screen to confirm this. but a light starts flashing red outside. I think I can adjust. Camera mount: 1" strap instead of the 2" straps I'm used to and silky smooth end to end, same thickness. The ends are not bent but sewn together for stability. Not bad. unless you assemble the strap yourself by threading it through the plastic latch. It didn't hold up well and my camera sagged. So I took the two ends and tied them together like a shoe to hold them. Camera theft is a real problem in my area so I always put a lock on the door and also use a Python lock. The regular sized padlocks I use didn't fit through the tiny hole so I had to upgrade to a smaller padlock that did. This little lock barely fits in. Initially, I upgraded to bigger locks, so stealing wasn't an easy task. They should have planned on stealing my cameras and carrying wire cutters. Due to the placement of the camera lens (I'm assuming it's the middle lens) I struggled to lock the python. I've also worked with a less than ideal tree in angular aspect. When I'm in the right place, I choose a different tree to optimize the place I want. 15th of November. Image Extraction: The lock, small as it was, had to come out of the lock's holding area (because it was tight) so I could extract the SD card. It can be more as I mentioned earlier. *Update, although the lock is a bit sticky, it seems a little easier to get in and out of. Can I view pictures on my portable SD card reader: No. It also prevented me from watching videos. Image Quality: Really good. night, day, snow. Weather/Latency/Battery: I can't say anything about that because I've only been out in the woods for about 2 weeks. Buyback decision: POS. Serious. The weather was getting cold in this part of Pennsylvania. So wrestling with the castle is not on my list of favorite things to do. Frozen locks, yes I hate it but it happens. I tried the SD card in my field SD card reader. Nada. Said there were no pictures (or something) so just in case I checked the video and it showed it was there but didn't play. I bring it home and put the SD card in my computer and although it confirms there is something on the card it doesn't know how to open it. I'll keep wrestling with this and see if I can figure it out, but I don't like spending too much time messing around with trail cameras (it's probably already obvious by the time you're still reading this). As long as I put a new card in the game camera and reset it, it's clear that it's a waste of time. Next time I'm in the woods I plan on taking it out and bringing it back while I still can before I'm done with another tree decoration that's eating batteries and wasting my time. 3rd of December. Went through Revane's process to get him back the other day. In the end, a very good partner of Revain tried to solve the problem with me. We did as usual, left the camera on, took out the batteries, new batteries, formatted the SD card, etc. No luck. So they forced me to write OUDMON through them. They replied within two days. I will keep this letter for future reference. The source of all my troubles? If I had to guess? Any SD card you insert into this camera needs to be formatted in the camera. (This is an option). So this is what the camera needs to store images. I hope so). I will update again. So far I have to say that their customer service is excellent. **Please note that to manually take a photo the bottom right button (which says SHOT below it) can be used to check if it works when you are at home and insert the SD card into the computer. 30 December 2019. This camera pulled from the forest along with others. The photos were decent, day, night, rain or snow. The temperature was warmer so the lock didn't bother me. By the end of January I had to decide whether or not to keep this camera. I decided I would keep it and hope for the best next year.

Pros
