Review on πŸ“¦ Premium 30pt Brown Kraft Cardboard Chipboard: 8" x 10" (100 Pieces) by Jessica Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for smoothing out watercolors, but not for protecting them from damage in transit.

I originally received these to keep my watercolors safe in a cardboard box. Unfortunately, the chipboard was too thin to offer any real protection. My 300 lb watercolor paper had less flexibility than these pieces of chipboard. Their flexibility earned them 3 stars. I gave them a star back because I found an alternative use for them. Luckily I found an alternative use for them. I hate stretching watercolor paper so now I use these chipboard pieces to smooth out warped watercolor paper after painting. I do that, by dampening the back of my watercolor painting (taking into account that there is nothing painted there as I sometimes use both sides of the paper) and then inserting the painting between these chipboards and stacking heavy books on top. This allows the paper to dry slowly without damaging the top of the books while smoothing out any warped areas. Once the paper is completely dry (8 hours or more, 24 hours if you want 140 lb paper to be perfectly flat) you'll have a beautiful flat watercolor painting again! Please note, the thicker the watercolor paper, the longer the process will take. Using 300 lb paper, it took several days for the paintings to be completely flat. 24 hours if you want that 140 lb paper is perfectly flat) and you have a beautiful flat watercolor painting again! Great for flattening watercolor paintings, not so great for protecting against shipping damages.
