: Sainsmart contacted me shortly after I posted the initial review. After a few emails back and forth they asked if they could send me a laser. I of course answered if it is free. They sent me a new laser and said it had been tested. About a week later it arrived from China. I watched the video they sent me and followed exactly how they set it up. Their original instructions are not clear, they speak poor English and you have to decipher what they are trying to say. It turns out that the power supply is not used when connected to the MX3. I tried many ways to connect the original laser including those shown in the video but the laser still refused to work properly. This new block works great! So far I've only run through the test gcode by typing Focus. I look forward to trying out some of the ideas I've drawn. Remember this is not a toy, use caution, work in a well ventilated area and always wear safety goggles! FIRST CHECK: After setting up the laser, I turned on my MX3. The laser immediately began pulsing. The fan motor started and none of them stopped until I disconnected the laser power supply! I didn't have any material on the bed so nothing messed up, but I wasn't prepared for the laser to turn on. The laser was off and I never turned it on. I got a laser reflection flash and saw spots for a while. ATTENTION: ALWAYS WEAR GOGGLES! Especially when you first set it up. The laser may turn on unexpectedly. I'll try another one eventually as it might just be a bad laser anomaly. I will definitely wear glasses just in case.
