This is the second pair of Clark shoes of the same type (not Showa) that I bought a few years ago. First, Showas are waterproof. Second, I bought the smooth skin version as the price was better than the NuBuck. NuBuck is a very durable suede, but I love the look of leather shoes. My old pair (not Showa but the same Fires) are starting to wear down to the midsole foam and aren't as waterproof as new. Two years of intensive use is not bad. I walk my dog, I work in them in dry and wet weather, summer rain, winter snow, in the yard, on hard concrete. I'm happy.
