Review on Simplicity Victorian and Steampunk Fitted Dress Costume Sewing Pattern - Sizes 6-12: Step-by-Step Guide by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

not as hard as it looks

I took this pattern for a special occasion and was very happy with the result. I consider myself an advanced seamstress and had no problems at all with this pattern. (The biggest challenge was dealing with the sheer amount of fabric in the skirt.) I made mine out of satin, but if I were to make another, I'd try wool fabric. One thing to note is that while the bustier has a "backbone" of sorts, it doesn't support at all. If you're busy upstairs, you'll either want to wear a more functional bustier or find a strapless bra to match.

Pros
  • The dress pattern can be made from the same material or alternated for a more varied look.
Cons
  • Something different
